Class Descriptions
"There have been times I have worked diligently at one employment or another, and found creativity, and productivity there. And there has been a great stretch of time where I’ve found contentment, energy and flow in mountain biking. I’ve come to find all of these things and a few more in yoga. Through any of these fields of endeavor, and indeed through everything else, there is a thread, a path. There is a Flow. At our best we maintain integrity to that path, and cultivate it into our day to day.
That is what these classes are about: You getting to know the flow that is specifically yours. Maintaining integrity to it as it changes and grows.
Wherever you are from, what ever your story may be; I welcome you to class."
While obtaining a master's degree in Dance from the University of New Mexico in 2004, I discovered a passion for physical fitness and well-being. My studies continued to lead me on the path towards having a deeper understanding of kinesiology, movement fundamentals and analysis. I continued to learn by taking a yoga teacher training course, attending yoga workshops, and by apprenticing under a certified Iyengar yoga teacher. In addition, I have extensive Pilates class instruction and practice experience.
I love to share all that I know through classes that are focused on alignment, posture, and pleasure. "Expression of the self" is the over-arching theme in my yoga, dance, and fitness classes. I have taught in southwest Colorado since 1995 and in Dolores since 2004.

"I’m delighted to be able to bring Nia Technique to our community. My mom introduced me to Nia about a year ago and I have been practicing ever since. I recently completed a 7-day White Belt Training to become a certified Nia teacher.
I have always loved exercise of all kinds. Nia combines so many practices I enjoy: cardio, dance, martial arts and healing arts. Nia is like a workout for the whole self. The practice encourages awareness of five healing and conditioning sensations: flexibility, agility, mobility, strength and stability. The first principle of Nia is Joy of Movement and by listening to our own body’s way, we strive to find it in each class.
Nia is a natural extension of the body-based psychotherapy I practice and I believe that through movement, people can heal and expand. I am a licensed professional counselor and a writer. I specialize in EMDR, a somatic therapy, and I am a published poet and author. You can find more info about my work here www.ReneePodunovich.com
